Today was C's first day at Mother's Day Out. Reagan came with us today to drop her off. While we were in the classroom with her she was happy, smiling and playing with the toys. There was another little girl whose first day was today also. Her parents left a few moments before we did and she started bawling which freaked Caroline out. They both were screaming and crying (we could hear them down the hall). The class has a video camera so we watched in the school office. The other little girl got so upset she threw up and Caroline was trying to open the class door to make her great escape. The assistant came in the room as back-up. She distracted C while the teacher cleaned the little girl. I of course started crying in the office! Caroline calmed down and started playing again so I left. I cried again when I got in my car! I'm such a cry baby! I forced myself to give her an entire hour before calling to check how she was. She was fine and having fun.
She was so happy to see me when I picked her up. She came running towards me with open arms and a giant smile! The teacher said she did great after she calmed down. She was a stand-offish towards the teacher until she gave her snack (of course - a yummy snack is the key to C's heart!). I didn't realize until I picked her up that today was picture day at school. They brought in a photographer that brought dress-up clothes to the kids to use as props. The teacher said C loved dressing-up and posing for the picture (again, of course!). She said C was a total ham! As we walked to the car I asked C is she liked school and she shook her head yes. Overall I think she had a great day and I'll do better next week......I hope!
